Nike Air Jordan 3 “Tinker”: Official Images

Jordan Brand will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Jordan 3 in a big way this year. Colorways galore, and shoes with stories, it appears as though we will also be receiving a colorway based on Tinker Hatfield’s original design. The colorway will be dubbed the Air Jordan 3 “Tinker”.

Back in 1988, Tinker had the monumental task of design a sneaker for Michael Jordan (great scorer at the time, not quite the GOAT). However, Jordan had been dissatisfied with his Nike run thus far and wanted to jump to adidas. What Tinker brought to Jordan was a shoe that revolutionalized the sneaker world, and the rest is history.

The original sketches of the Jordan III weren’t too far off from the released pair. This colorway is based on the “Fire Red” pair. Color-scheme wise, there’s no much difference, save for the midsole (black instead of red), the sock liner (grey over red) and the inverted colors on the back tab. However, the design offers details that make the shoe unique. The first is the upper, which featured a Swoosh on the vamp. On the opposite side, is a Nike word logo that is stitched. Finally, the inside of the tongue features Tinker Hatfield’s signature, and the insole has a graphic of Jordan 3 sketches.

Look for the Air Jordan 3 “Tinker” to hit stores on Mar. 24 at select Jordan Brand retailers and Nike.com. Retail will be set at $200. Also, you can check out official photos below.
